Free Consultation
Consultations are a time to ask questions and get to know each other. This is a big deal! Whether this is your first pregnancy or your 10th, it's important we have an opportunity to get to know each other. You can come to this meeting with an extensive list of questions or nothing at all. I will walk you through what care will look with my practice and you can ask questions along the way.
Prenatal Care
Comprehensive prenatal care is vital in pregnancy, not only for the physical health of the pregnant person and baby, but also for the mental and emotional health and support. To us, prenatal care is not simply a clinical process, it's a deeply relational one. Most prenatal appointments will take place at our office. They typically last for about an hour in order to allow for plenty of space to cover everything. This includes medical checkups on the pregnancy and time to educate, answer any questions, and address any thoughts, feelings, concerns, or anxieties that you may be experiencing. During the course of your care, you will offered all the standard labs and ultrasounds with informed and collaborative decision making.
Beautiful Births follows the standard schedule regarding the frequency of prenatal visits:
From 12-28 weeks, appointments are every 4 weeks
From 28-36 weeks, appointments every 2 weeks
From 36-birth, appointments are every week or more frequently as needed.
Birth and Immediate Postpartum
A Midwife is on-call 24-7 and available to come to your planned place of birth when the time is right. We bring all the medical supplies and medications needed for the birth and set up quickly on arrival. We are diligent about monitoring fetal heart tones and assessing vital signs to ensure the safety of everyone. We stay with you until everyone is stable and doing well.

What happens if plans change?
Transfer of care is can be a part of normal care. With your safety as our top priority, if at anytime we believe that the safest place for you is the hospital we will transfer to the wonderful providers at a local hospital. We help to coordinate this transfer and support you through it. Your experience matters to us and even if plans change, our support of you does not. We will cover this in full during our appointments and walk through the process together.
Postpartum and Newborn Care
The level of postpartum care families receive from midwives is quite unique. You will receive at-home visits and care for the first week and then office visits until 6 weeks; this is invaluable for a family adjusting to new life with a newborn. During that time, in the privacy and personal comfort of your own home, we will support the recovery process by answering any questions, offering support and coaching with breastfeeding, ensuring that everything is healing properly, and that baby is growing and developing at a healthy rate. During the 6 weeks of postpartum care, you will be seen for a minimum of 6 visits: at 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 6 weeks. However, if circumstances necessitate, we will see each more frequently.
I do accept the Oregon Health Plan. Please mention that you are on OHP at the consultation so I can inform you about some of the differences associated with this type of insurance.
